Run Flat Technology Tire. Original Equipment (OE) tire on select vehicles. On the outside, the Dueler H/L 400 molds its dual layer compound into a symmetric tread pattern that has been tuned to enhance comfort. Large shoulder blocks and an interlocking center rib boost responsiveness and highway stability, while circumferential grooves, lateral notches and sipes help increase poor weather traction. On the inside, twin steel belts provide support under the tread area, while polyester cords stabilize the sidewalls and enhance ride quality. BMW has teamed up with Bridgestone again. Furthermore, 18 and 19’’ versions of the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 RFT will be featured on certain models with all-seasons specification. The RFT version takes this premium performance a step further, adding safety and peace of mind. The reinforced sidewalls enable the driving to continue driving safely after loss of tire pressure, avoiding a potentially lethal blow-out situation.
Run flat tires
The run flat property is given by a reinforced side wall that preserves the shape of the tire in case of pressure loss, thus preventing the tire from falling off the rim. That means that in case of a flat tire, it is possible to drive another 250 km running at 80 km/h. All run-flat tires have the RSC-symbol (Run Flat System Component) on the sidewall. Run-flat tires don't need any special rims, but are only functionable with cars that are equipped with a functioning air pressure control system

Comments: I bought these tires because when my wife bought the car it had them on it. She had great luck with them so why not stick with what had worked.

Comments: unfortunately this is the only OEM run flat option for this vehicle so we are forced to purchase. TFT team is awesome and makes some of the pain of the cost of 4 new tires go away...
